Wright Brother's First Airplane in History

First Airplane Flied

The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, are credited with inventing and building the world’s first successful airplane. On December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers made four brief flights at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, with their Wright Flyer aircraft. The first flight, flown by Orville Wright, lasted just 12 seconds and covered a distance of 120 feet. This event is widely considered as the birth of powered flight and marks a major milestone in the history of aviation.

In 1906, Alberto Santos-Dumont set the world record by flying his aircraft.

Aircraft were first used in active combat on a large scale in World War I. This played a decisive role in the First World War. France became the leading aircraft manufacturer during the war, producing over 68,000 airplanes between 1914 and 1918. During World War II, nearly all nations increased their production and development of aircraft and flight-based systems. The military used fighter bombers, strategic bombers, dive bombers, and ground-attack aircraft.
